Begonias are gorgeous alternative flowering and foliage plants for semi-shaded to shaded garden areas. ‘Dark Elegance’ is a striking plant with its dramatic, long and flowing bronze-red leaves and abundant, brightest of brilliant red flowers. Ideal for baskets either grown on its own or as a mixed planting.
Begonia Summer Wings performs best protected from the wind in outdoor shade, part shade or sun. They can be used in garden beds, but are spectacular in pots, window boxes and hanging baskets.
Keep moist but not over wet. Remove spent flowers to encourage new ones to form. Liquid fertiliser every four to six weeks during Spring, Summer and Autumn. With some extra care a great result is the reward. Note that Begonia Summer Wings will enter a dormant stage through Winter in cooler climates. Store by putting the pot on its side so the bulb does not get too wet and repot with new, premium potting mix in Spring.
