Description

Heucheras and Heucherellas are outstanding foliage plants offering year-round colour and texture for gardens and containers. Offering an incredible display of colour, 'Key Lime Pie' forms a dense habit of wonderful lime-green foliage which contrasts beautifully against dark leaved Heuchera.  In Spring to Summer long erect flower spikes of tiny, bell-shaped pink flowers rise above the foliage where they remain for weeks.

Uses

Heucheras add a striking focal point to shady places in your outdoor spaces, either in garden beds or containers. The foliage is such that it blends well into cottage gardens as a shade filler, and in tropical landscapes as a path edge or groundcover when mass-planted. Heucheras also make for interesting indoor pot plants when displayed out of direct sunlight.

Care

When choosing a position for your Heuchera, keep in mind that light shade is essential for optimal growth and foliage colouration. If in doubt, err on the side of caution and choose a shadier position, particularly in warmer regions as direct light can scorch the tender foliage.

Before planting in either the garden or a container, dig in compost or other organic based fertiliser and water in. If planting into a container, choose one only slightly larger than the root area, and ready to re-pot to a only one size up just before your plant becomes root bound. Keep the soil moist. Spread some controlled release fertiliser during Summer.

Heucheras won't look their best over Winter, particularly in colder regions, but will bounce back in Spring after removing dead foliage. In warmer regions, over-wintering is easier, and flowers will appear after the first year.

Wear gloves & wash hands after gardening.
