Description

With masses of deep cherry red flowers and deep red, almost black veining centres, Supertunia® ‘Black Cherry’ is an absolute winner with its long flowering period and tolerance of heat. Supertunia® petunias are vigorous with slightly mounded habits that are self-cleaning, therefore you do not need to deadhead to keep them looking beautiful all summer.

The Supertunia® series has a smaller spread than the Supertunia® Vista series, but a larger spread than the Supertunia® Mini Vista series. In warmer regions and in good conditions, Supertunia® may provide additional seasons of colour beyond its typically annual life.

Uses

Supertunia® are ideal for gardeners who seek maximum colour and show with minimal time and effort. Perfect for larger containers and hanging baskets as both fillers, spillers, and combination planters.  They are also excellent landscape plants, best suited to be placed near the front of beds providing focal points of colour and contrast in full sun, bright light positions.  Supertunia® series have medium to large sized flowers.

Care

Providing Supertunia® ‘Black Cherry’ with a strong start will mean less effort and maintenance across the season. Plant out in late Winter or early Spring into a well-prepared soil or premium potting mix to which quality slow-release fertiliser has been added. Mulch and water in well, ensuring the root ball is saturated to give the plant a solid start. Supertunia® growth will be underway by late September.

With vigorous growth, Supertunia® may begin to look overgrown in December and a light trim of up to one third with an application of high-nitrogen, soluble fertiliser will give burst of growth and flowers through to the end of Autumn. Container plants should be trimmed back to the edge of the pot.

Wear gloves & wash hands after gardening.
